The process is not going as easily as we had hoped. The medication is causing a bad headache and dry heaving. These are all reactions to the medication. The doctors say these symptoms are not unusual. However, it does mean that they have to move very slowly in increasing the amount of medication he is getting. He is out of ICU but will remain in the hospital for 2-4 more days.
They started training me on how to use the pump and administer the medication. The process is complex, but I am sure I can learn it. The nurse educator, however, told me about all the potential negative things that can happen if we don’t do it right. While I realize that she professionally needed to give me the warnings, I don’t think the nurse educator realized how much pressure she put on me. It is my plan to see if we can get a nurse to do it every day.
good plan to get a nurse…sometimes there is a limit on what we moms can do!! you’ve been through enough, so definitely go for the nurse!! please give phil our best…

I would definately get the nurse… you don’t need that kind of pressure, and Phil needs you to be strong for him. Hope the side effects level out soon, and that the medicine will start working for him!
