Philip still isn’t feeling well. His headache is better, but his stomach is not good. The nausea is still pretty bad. I am starting to get concerned because he hasn’t eaten a thing since Friday night and he hasn’t been able to take any of his oral medication either. He was not feeling well enough to travel Chapel Hill this morning. Tomorrow is questionable, but it is important that we keep our appointment if at all possible. The physicians are now treating the nausea more aggressively so that we can get more fluids into him. It is important that we keep his electrolytes in balance and also get a couple of his medications to stay in him.
If we are able to go to Chapel Hill tomorrow Shelly will join us. Philip is pretty weak at this point so I need his help. They will decide at the appointment if they should hospitalize him or send him home. Right now hospitalization doesn’t sound like a bad option as he is suffering so much.
It’s Monday and that means not only do we change the pump and medication but also the tubing, antibiotic patch, the little piece that goes between the tubing from the pump to the tubing in the central vein, and the bandage. I noticed that there was blood coming through his pajama top. Bless our Accredo contact Teresa, she walked us through fixing the problem. We will watch the apparatus closely.
