Philip seems to be a little bit more responsive. Sometimes he will nod his head when asked a question but he is also a little confused, probably from encephalopathy. The staff tells me that this is a step up so I am thrilled. The doctors feel that he is on the road and one of these days very soon I will walk into the room and he will respond to me and be able to sit up a little. Weakness continues to be a concern for me. But the doctors aren’t yet talking about that. They started feeling him through a tube today, remembering that it has been nearly two weeks since he has had anything at all to eat. We continue to look forward to better days.

Testimonials
As an academic, I tend to do major research before every medical procedure, from giving birth and nursing, to most recently, rotator cuff surgery for my shoulder. People grimaced and told me that this was one of the most painful and debilitating surgeries of them all. I was so fortunate to find Lorrie Klemons, who immediately provided me with a list of items I could do to prepare for the surgery, for the family to help me through the time, as well as clever and simple ways to make life easier and more manageable with a whole assortment of tips and ideas. Lorrie's list and expert advice, as well as her warm and loving support, got me through a very difficult time. One year later I am pain-free, fully mobile, and extremely happy. What a wonderful resource!!

I hate that Phil is having to go through all this. Once he starts getting some nutrition with the tube, maybe his strength will return and he will be able to respond more.
Thinking of all of you during this Chanukah season, and looking forward to good news.
