Philip seems to be stabilizing. We know he is in end stage liver disease, but for the last few days he is doing fine. He is not well enough to get to many of his old activities, but we will take anything good we can get and be grateful for it. Philip has a wonderful sense of humor, and when he has any energy at all he is very funny to be around. I sometimes stand back and look at him in amazement, and think to myself, you are one amazing person. You find reason to laugh, you find reasons to share your smile, and make everyone’s life just a little lighter. Thank you Philip for being my son and the person you are.
Philip had a social worker for several years who was wonderful. He was very good at helping Philip through the maze of benefits. With the cutbacks of recent times, the social worker was eliminated. Bill is a very fine person and became very fond of Philip. He has kept in touch with Philip and has visited him many times even though he is no longer paid to do it. Today, they had lunch together. I can only tell you that the planet would be a better place if there were more people in it like Bill.
